ISPO '19 Congress to be held in Palma de Mallorca

The Palma Pilots Corporation has been chosen to hold the next ISPO Congress on 11 and 12 September 2019 at the Hotel Meliá Palma Marina.

This event is held annually in the different ports that have ISPO certification, and that the port of Palma holds since 2016.

More information will follow later.

Pilots from Palma represented at ISPO's annual congress in Brisbane

The ISPO annual international standard congress for pilotage organisations will be held on 17 and 18 October, this year based in the Australian city of Brisbane.

The Palma Pilots' Corporation will be represented there to exchange and learn about the good practices of the activity, as well as the operational novelties that may derive from an interpretation of the code.

It is worth mentioning that the Integrated Management System has been certified with this code since 2015, and that it is the only port in Spain where the pilotage service has been granted this certification.

There are currently 20 ports around the world that meet the certification requirements established by the ISPO code.

Crew training

During the past month of July have been carried out practices in the simulator of maneuver of Centre Integrat de Formació Profesional Nautico pesquera of Palma on the part of our crew members of the boats.

Each crew member has carried out manoeuvres to approach different vessels in low visibility situations and different meteorological scenarios. The practices have been supervised by the staff of the Nautical School itself. The evaluations of this training have been very positive.

This training is included in the Palma Pilots coorporation´s Continuous training improvement program for employees.

We would like to thank the staff of the centre for their availability and kindness to this training activity, and the Corporation's employees for their total commitment to the practice.
